Queen of the Rychewww.queenoftheryche.ca under construction Queensryche Tribute Band
From Vancouver, BC these very talented musicians have joined together to perform superb music from the 80's 'thinking man's band', Queensryche. They are all pretty excited and are looking forward to gigging in the Vancouver area and beyond! Songs are from 'Empire' and previous CD's/albums. Set List includes:
In addition: the one & only Pamela Moore may so graciously add her epic part as Sister Mary when we perform, depending on her schedule. Thank you, Pam! Band members are: Tracy Forsyth - 'Geoff Tate' - Vocals
Emi Topcu - 'Chris De Garmo' - Guitars
I have been playing guitar,
on and off, for 20 years. My first band was 'Ain't Blonde' from
Istanbul, Turkey (1990-1994). I had been Slash of Girls N Roses here in
Vancouver for over a year. I am happy to have found the companions for my original
project Lethal Halo (www.lethalhalo.com)
which started in 2008 and it has been walking with very firm steps ever
since. In addition, I am thrilled and proud to be part of this Queensryche tribute project,
playing tunes from one of my favorite bands with great musicians.
Marysia McGilvray - 'Michael Wilton' - Guitars & Vocals
After ten years of classical piano, and a few years singing in a rock/grunge band in high school, Marysia picked up the electric guitar so she could start writing the music she really loved - rock and metal. During her eight-years-and-going-strong love affair with metal guitar she has also played heavy blues/rock with local band Anger, Power, Fury & the Filth and 70's-80's funk and dance tunes in a cover band. As Queensryche is one of her favourite bands, Marysia jumped at the chance to play Michael Wilton, and is loving every minute.
Leo Pedersen - 'Eddie Jackson' - Bass Guitar I've been playing guitar since 1984 and teaching guitar full-time since 1990. I grew up with metal and classical music but I've since studied and performed fusion, avant-garde, jazz, flamenco, Balinese gamelan and North Indian classical. I have done the Bachelor of Music program at UBC majoring in composition with classical guitar as my primary instrument. I have played in Gita Asmara (www.gitaasmara.ca) the Vancouver Balinese gamelan percussion orchestra since 1998. I play 9-string guitar in my instrumental metal band Alpha Trion (www.myspace.com/a3band) and I devote a great deal of energy to designing & building my own extended range guitar/bass hybrid instruments. Queensryche and bass guitar have been two of my favourite things since my teens and I'm thrilled to play bass with Queen of the Ryche.
Rolf Popp - 'Scott Rockenfield' - Drums
A Vancouverite since the age of 7, Rolf started drumming at the age of 12.
Influences include Ian Paice, Neil Peart, Carl Palmer and Buddy Rich.
Other bands in the past include Live She Cries. Rolf's main band is
Solar Fire, where Tracy is lead vocalist also. Rolf will rehearse and
perform with this QR band as he is able (super busy guy as he is). The
band is open to finding a fill in drummer in case a gig comes up and Rolf
isn't available.
Stephen Parker - Keyboards and Vocals
Stephen started playing in rock bands at the age of 12. He got his first electric guitar and amp at 13. He also took up piano and trombone at an early age. Work, school and family commitments kept him away from performing for almost 30 years after graduating from High School. He answered a Craigslist ad to 'jam' about 5 years ago, and got hooked on music again. A very versatile musician, he has recently played in diverse bands such as Soul/R&B, Blues, Top 40 Pop Rock and heavy metal. He performed at the River Rock last November as part of the house band for a Diabetes fundraiser. That set list included everything from The Carpenters to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Stephen, an accountant and retail business owner by day, currently plays keyboards in a Blues Band, Queen of the Ryche and Solar Fire. He also plays guitar and drums. |
